In Greek mythology, the snake eating its tail (ouroboros) is a symbol of eternal cyclic renewal, or rebirth. The cycle of life. This piece has deep meaning for me, as the prototype was created by a dear friend who was on a pilgrimage in India in the early 90s. Being diagnosed with HIV, which was almost a death sentence at that time, he drew this image and had three pieces made in India. Coincidentally, and serendipitously, I had been making Ouroboros necklaces, and a mutual friend, realizing the connection, made sure that I received this to carry on his legacy. I tweaked the original so it’s more comfortable in the ear, and cast it that way, but primarily, this is original to its creator, Rob Flack. Detail-wise, these are solid sterling studs, measuring about 3/4”, giving the appearance that they are emerging from the front of the ear, and terminating in the back. (Also listed in a gold option)
